Deloitte Visits Dalton State

Dalton State’s ALPFA chapter had the honor of hosting a meeting with two special speakers from Deloitte, the largest accounting firm in the world. This meeting was open to all students of Dalton State's Wright School of Business.

Speakers Jhamir Figueroa and Ana Maldonado, who is an alumna of Dalton State, shared their personal experiences as Deloitte employees, giving deeper insights of the company to the students and professors in attendance.

ALPFA, the Association of Latino Professionals For America, began to make its mark on campus last fall, and they have since brought a variety of professional speakers and networking events on campus for students seeking internships and advice for the future. Dalton State is an emerging Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) and has a little more than 24 percent of its population identifying as Hispanic.

“The goal for ALPFA is to grow into a well-established registered student organization that can potentially send more students to the annual ALPFA National Convention,” said Ivan Delgado, who is the current president of Dalton State’s ALPFA chapter and has lined up an internship with Deloitte next summer. “We want to develop the professional skills of students to distinguish them in the business world, and make them great leaders that will bring pride and publicity to Dalton State.”
